The Family Man star, who once bought a plane seat for his child\u2019s imaginary friend, is currently enduring a \u201chostile environment\u201d allegedly created by his son\u2019s ex-wife, preventing him from seeing his four-year-old twin granddaughters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeople would not stop saying things like, \u2018I love the smell of Nicolas in the morning,\u2019 because of Apocalypse Now\u2026and it made it hard to work and I said, \u2018I don\u2019t need this,\u2019 and changed it to Cage,\u201d he explains, recalling his decision to drop the surname that linked him to his famous relative, Francis Ford Coppola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elaborating on why he chose \u201cCage,\u201d he adds, \u201cIt\u2019s a combination of Luke Cage from Marvel comics, a character I admired, also known as Power Man, and John Cage, the avant-garde composer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The anonymity gave him a sense of liberation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWow, I really can do this. And I felt liberated by that experience,\u201d he tells The Hollywood Reporter. \u201cYou can see it in Valley Girl that I\u2019m free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas in Fast Times, or even Rumble Fish, I felt somewhat restrained,\u201d he notes, referring to his role in 1983\u2019s Rumble Fish, directed by his uncle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, Cage worked non-stop in numerous films, earning a reputation as one of Hollywood\u2019s most sought-after actors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1988, he received Golden Globe nominations for Moonstruck alongside Cher and Honeymoon in Vegas with Sarah Jessica Parker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also had a son Weston Coppola Cage, in December 1990. Weston even portrayed a younger version of Cage in the 2014 film Rage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shares a son, Kal-El (Superman\u2019s birth name), born in 2005 with his third wife Alice Kim. Also a daughter, August Francesca, born in 2022 with his fifth wife, Riko Shibata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He adds, \u201cI turned down Lord of the Rings and The Matrix because I didn\u2019t want to spend three years in New Zealand or Australia. I needed to be home with my son Weston, that\u2019s a fact.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To this day, the Adaptation actor shares a strong bond with his children and two grandchildren, Lucian (born 2014) and Sorin (2016), whom Weston shares with his second wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe can do things I dream about doing\u2026compose music, sing, act, sculpt, and cook, and now he\u2019s a loving father,\u201d Cage says of Weston, who previously led two heavy metal bands. \u201cSeeing my son with my grandson brings a rare sense of blissful fulfillment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now 33, Weston, known for D-Day, has been married three times and also shares\u00a0twin\u00a0daughters, Cyress and Venice, born in 2020 with his third ex-wife, Hila Arounian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the twins have never met any of their famous Hollywood relatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a contentious divorce in 2021, TMZ reports Hila was granted \u201csole legal and physical custody of their twin daughters\u2026with Weston receiving no visitation rights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Describing the distressing situation, Weston\u2019s mother Christina spoke to The U.S. Sun. Christina says, \u201cNot meeting the girls is painful, hurtful, and shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hila does not mention restricting family visitation with the twins. Claiming Weston\u2019s \u201cbehavior became a physical threat to our daughters and me, as well as our emotional well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
