A group of children, full of energy, pedaled through La Rochelle. And then everything changed in a second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An 83-year-old driver, headed the wrong way, struck them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several were injured. The scene was chaotic. Unthinkable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And now, the question echoes louder than ever: At what point is it no longer safe to drive? Can someone be too old to sit behind the wheel?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or is age just a number when it comes to road safety? The debate isn\u2019t easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It never has been. Because behind the statistics are real people\u2014parents, grandparents, neighbors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People who\u2019ve been driving safely for 50, even 60 years. But aging does change things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to France\u2019s Road Safety Authority, drivers over 75 are involved in as many accidents as those aged 18 to 24.<a href=\"https:\/\/defdeal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/gyigiy.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It started with a bike ride.
