And so, it only makes sense that we would plug them in to charge at night while we\u2019re sleeping. However, do you ever give much thought to&nbsp;<em>where<\/em>&nbsp;you charge your phone while you sleep? Many of us are quite attached to our phones, and so we sleep with them beside us or under our pillows. However, firefighters are warning people of just how dangerous this seemingly innocent habit can actually be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/homemaking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Screen-shot-2018-08-14-at-3.42.12-PM.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">source:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/goodyfeed.com\/youve-charging-phone-overnight-facts-might-interest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Goody Feed<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Newton New Hampshire Fire Department made a Facebook post that perfectly illustrates this point. The post revealed that 53% of children and teenagers charge their phones or tablets either on their beds or under their pillows. This becomes a potential danger because the heat generated from the charger cannot dissipate, so the charger becomes increasingly hotter as the night goes on. It\u2019s easy to understand how bedding and pillows can quickly catch fire as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FNewtonNHFireDepartment%2Fphotos%2Fa.183395405162572%2F785358348299605%2F%3Ftype%3D3&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pretty scary, right? It\u2019s astonishing to see how something as simple as charging our devices has the potential to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/homemaking.com\/hannah\/common-causes-house-fires\/\">start a house fire<\/a>, and even threaten people\u2019s lives. You should always charge your phone, tablet, or laptop on a hard surface. Any soft, fabric surfaces (like beds, pillows, and couches) are a big no. The second you notice a charger that\u2019s seen better days or is beginning to fray, throw it out and replace it. But the danger doesn\u2019t completely disappear when you unplug your device.
